The Biggest Lie We Were Ever Told About Love
There was a time when I believed love was supposed to be easy.
You meet someone.
You fall hopelessly in love.
You laugh at the same jokes.
You can’t stop touching each other.
You make promises about forever.
Then somehow… you simply live happily ever after.
At least, that’s what every romantic movie wanted me to believe.
Life, however, had other plans.
Over the years, I’ve come to realise that relationships rarely end because of one dramatic moment. More often, they slowly change through hundreds of ordinary ones.
The good morning kiss becomes a quick “Morning.”
The long conversations become reminders about groceries.
The flirting becomes discussing bills.
The excitement becomes routine.
And one day, two people who genuinely love each other look across the room and quietly wonder…
“When did we stop feeling like lovers?”
That question has stayed with me for years.
Not because I found an easy answer.
But because I’ve lived through enough relationships to know that almost everyone asks it eventually.
Whether you’ve been together for six months or thirty years, every relationship reaches a point where love has to become a choice instead of a feeling.
And nobody prepares us for that.
We spend years learning how to get into relationships.
Very few of us learn how to stay curious once we’re already in one.
That, I believe, is one of the biggest lies we’ve ever been told about love.
