Relationship JOURNAL #2

Have you ever heard someone say,

“The sex is amazing… but the relationship is falling apart.”

Or perhaps the opposite.

“We love each other deeply, but we’ve become more like roommates.”

I’ve heard both stories more times than I can count.

For years, I kept asking myself one question.

Can incredible sex actually save a relationship?

Or…

Is it simply covering problems neither person wants to face?

I used to believe passion was enough.

If two people couldn’t keep their hands off each other, surely they were meant to last forever.

Life proved me wrong.

Chemistry can bring two people together.

But chemistry alone doesn’t help you navigate difficult conversations.

It doesn’t teach you how to apologise.

It doesn’t solve financial stress.

It doesn’t automatically create trust.

Ignoring intimacy can quietly damage even the healthiest relationship.

Because sex isn’t just about sex.

It’s one of the ways many couples say,

“I still choose you.”

“I still desire you.”

“You’re still my favourite place to come home to.”

When that connection slowly disappears, something much deeper often disappears with it.

But here’s something I’ve learned that surprised even me…

I once found myself in a relationship that most people thought could never work.

We didn’t live together.

We didn’t speak on the phone every day.

Sometimes we barely exchanged more than a few messages during the week.

Friends thought we were creating distance.

The truth?

We were creating anticipation.

Every Friday felt like the beginning of a new love story.

We had unknowingly designed a relationship around curiosity, independence, and choosing each other again every single weekend.

And strangely enough…

It transformed the way we loved.
